And whoever doesn’t have a sword should sell his robe and buy one.

This is usually what 'Christians' use to support their position on being armed and ready to kill.

All by itself Luke 22:36 might be taken to mean such a thing.    Let's examine both the immediate context and the entirety of the related texts to see if this interpretation holds true.

Here's the preceding verse:
35 He also said to them, “When I sent you out without money-bag, traveling bag, or sandals, did you lack anything?”  “Not a thing,” they said.
Those following Jesus always had what they needed.   Next verse:
36 Then He said to them, “But now, whoever has a money-bag should take it, and also a traveling bag. And whoever doesn’t have a sword should sell his robe and buy one.
Here's the famous instruction of Jesus to arm ourselves for battle.  But is this to be taken literally?  Let's keep reading for the answer.   Also notice that Jesus told them to sell their robes.  More on that later.

Jesus then makes reference to his fulfillment of Isaiah 53:12:
37 For I tell you, what is written must be fulfilled in Me: And He was counted among the outlaws. Yes, what is written about Me is coming to its fulfillment.”
He will be counted as a outlaw.

Now this is where it really gets interesting.  Let's look at the next verse from multiple translations:
38 “Lord,” they said, “look, here are two swords.”Enough of that!” He told them.   (HCSB)
The disciples said, “See, Lord, here are two swords.” “That’s enough!” he replied. (NIV)

And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.(KJV)

They said, “Look, Master, two swords!” But he said, “Enough of that; no more sword talk!”(MSG)

The disciples told him, “Lord, we already have two swords!” “You still don’t understand,” Jesus responded. (TPT)
As you can see this verse is very different between translations.  On the surface a reader of the KJV or NIV might take this verse to mean that Jesus is telling them that two swords is adequate for their purpose.   On the other hand, the other translations clearly reveal that Jesus was admonishing their lust for weapons.  Those translators believe Jesus to have meant:
"Enough of that; no more sword talk!"
"That's enough!"
"You still don't understand"
Now with that in mind, go back and read your favorite translation and you should see that Jesus could be condemning their talk of being armed instead of actually meaning that two swords are adequate.

Before we continue in the context to prove Jesus's meaning, consider this.......There were at least 12 grown men in the room and only two swords.  They clearly weren't arming for battle as those with weapons were a minority.  Also, open your favorite search engine and and ask how the 12 disciples died.  See if there is any reference to them making war with their weapons.  Surely if Jesus really meant for them to use their weapons there would be some account, but there is not.  Most of them, however, were martyred without harming anyone.

Getting back to the Luke account, Jesus and the disciples then head to the garden where Jesus prays while the disciples struggle to stay awake.  See Luke 22:39-46.

Then Judas betrays Jesus:
47 While He was still speaking, suddenly a mob was there, and one of the Twelve named Judas was leading them. He came near Jesus to kiss Him, 48 but Jesus said to him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?”
The mob then seizes Jesus.
49 When those around Him saw what was going to happen, they asked, “Lord, should we strike with the sword?” 50 Then one of them struck the high priest’s slave and cut off his right ear.
One of the sword carrying disciples still didn't understand.
51 But Jesus responded, “No more of this!” And touching his ear, He healed him.
Jesus admonishes the use of the sword and heals the injured man.  This is the only time in the entirety of the New Testament when one of these two swords gets used and Jesus immediately chastises them.
52 Then Jesus said to the chief priests, temple police, and the elders who had come for Him, “Have you come out with swords and clubs as if I were a criminal? 53 Every day while I was with you in the temple complex, you never laid a hand on Me. But this is your hour—and the dominion of darkness.”
So above we see that the mob has come out with swords and clubs as if Jesus was a criminal.  This is what Jesus was referring to when he spoke of Isaiah's prophecy and brought up the swords. It was likely intended as a figure of speech to warn them of the approaching confrontation.  He was being treated as if he were an armed outlaw.

Remember also where we learned that Jesus told them to sell their robes?  What might they expect based on that instruction?
11 Then Herod, with his soldiers, treated Him with contempt, mocked Him, dressed Him in a brilliant robe, and sent Him back to Pilate.

34 And they divided His clothes and cast lots.
(Luke 23)
Notice that any robe he may have been wearing was replaced and his clothes were later sold.  Could that be why he suggested that his disciples sell their robes?  Could it have been a veiled prediction of what was to come soon?

Let's also have a look at the Matthew 22 account:
52 Then Jesus told him, “Put your sword back in its place because all who take up a sword will perish by a sword. 53 Or do you think that I cannot call on My Father, and He will provide Me at once with more than 12 legions of angels?
Jesus tells us not to fear as he has 12 legions of angels at his disposal.  There is no reason for us to get scared and believe that we need to harm someone to protect ourselves.  Jesus still has those multitudes of angels to protect us!  Nothing or no one can harm us without permission!  Look at what happened a few moments earlier in Luke 22:
31 “Simon, Simon, look out! Satan has asked to sift you like wheat.
Notice that the Enemy had to ask permission to act against Simon.  Let that sink in.  Not only are there 12 legions of angels to protect us, but Satan has to ask permission!

If bad things are allowed to happen to us, we shouldn't blame the aggressor.  Instead we should get on our face and ask the Almighty why He chose not to protect us!

Let's summarize what we have so far:
  • The verse that is often used to justify one's desire for weapons actually means quite the opposite.  Jesus wasn't saying that two swords were ample.  He was saying that there had been enough talk about literal sword possession.
  • The two swords out of the 12+ men are only used one time for which the disciple was admonished.
  • The majority of these men were martyred without any mention of a fight.
  • Satan has to ask for permission to harm us.
  • Jesus has 12 legions of angels to protect us.
Let's have a look at something else Jesus had to say in Matthew 10:
34 Don’t assume that I came to bring peace on the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.
Again, Jesus speaks of bringing the sword.  But is this literal or figurative?  Let's continue to see...
35 For I came to turn
a man against his father,
a daughter against her mother,
a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law;
36 and a man’s enemies will be
the members of his household.
Notice that Jesus clearly states that he came to turn families against one another.  Does he mean that we will literally be taking up swords against each other?  Of course not.  When one gets very serious about following the teachings of Jesus they quickly find themselves at odds with even their closest loved ones.

Continuing we see that Jesus had some really interesting things to say in Luke 6:
27 “But I say to you who listen: Love your enemies, do what is good to those who hate you,
He commands us to love our enemies and to do good to those that hate us.  Can we express either of those things with a weapon?
28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
Should we pray for them before or after we use our weapons on them?
29 If anyone hits you on the cheek, offer the other also.
There is nothing about seeking retaliation or defending oneself.
And if anyone takes away your coat, don’t hold back your shirt either.
Admittedly, most claiming to follow Jesus would defend their possessions diligently instead of following this command.
30 Give to everyone who asks you, and from one who takes your things, don’t ask for them back. 31 Just as you want others to do for you, do the same for them.
We've all made some bad choices in our lives.  Let's forgive instead of being armed to kill.
32 If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. 33 If you do what is good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that. 34 And if you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners to be repaid in full.35 But love your enemies, do what is good, and lend, expecting nothing in return......
LOVE YOUR ENEMIES.....  How does one show love to their enemies while carrying a weapon?  If you fear what they may do to you and then harm or even kill them, should you give them a hug and a kiss or maybe a dozen roses?  Does that fulfill Messiah's command?
37 “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
Do not judge.  Do not condemn.  Forgive.  If I believe that someone may harm myself or others and I take physical action against them, I've judged that they are guilty, I've condemned them possibly to death.  I did NOT forgive them.  This is exactly opposite of what Messiah has commanded us to do.   Remember, Jesus allowed himself to be killed and so did the bulk of the disciples.  See also the story of Stephen:  Acts 7:54-60.  Be sure to notice that Stephen didn't judge or condemn, but instead allowed himself to be killed while asking the Almighty to forgive those that were killing him!

Many will justify this disobedience to Messiah by believing they need to protect their family members but again we need to remember what our Master said:
37 The person who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; the person who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me(Matthew 10)
In other words, if our love for our family members causes us to disobey Messiah's instruction then we are not worthy of him.  Let that sink in.

We've seen that the one verse we've used to justify our lust for weapons doesn't hold any water when researched more carefully.  We've also seen that we have to violate several of Messiah's commands to hold that position.  Additionally we know that the Enemy can't touch us without Father's permission.

So why do bad things happen to us?  The explanation is here:

"God is love. He doesn't care."

This is what people are learning in churches these days.

The title quote is attributed to gospel singer Leah Shafer regarding her lesbian affair with Sandy Yawn as discussed here:

Captain Sandy Yawn Says Girlfriend Leah Shafer "Has Been Shamed" Since They Went Public with Their Relationship

She has defined the meaning of love in her own mind while completely ignoring the Almighty's instruction on the matter.

This sort of perversion is what happens when there is a focus on 'love' in the absence of obedience.

For example, in the unedited version of the Ten Commandments, Father says this:
for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the fathers’ sin, to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me,  but showing faithful love to a thousand generations of those who love Me and keep My commands.  (Exodus 20:5-6)
Please notice that the concept of obeying His commands is directly related to showing Him our love.  One can't claim to love Him with all their heart while disobeying His commands in favor of their church's traditions.

The homosexuals have been taught by the churches to ignore the commandments that are inconvenient.  For example, just a few verses later in the Ten Commandments the Almighty says this:
Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy: 9 You are to labor six days and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. You must not do any work—you, your son or daughter, your male or female slave, your livestock, or the foreigner who is within your gates. 11 For the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and everything in them in six days; then He rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and declared it holy.
The churches have tossed out this commandment and replaced it with:
Remember Sunday and go to church (when it's convenient).  It's even okay if you want to go to work later or go out to eat while others serve you.  God is love.  He doesn't care.
There is little difference between the average pastor and this lesbian.  They both have disregarded His instructions with the justification that "God is love".   The lesbian ignores the instruction against homosexuality while the pastor ignores many others including the one about the Sabbath.

Nowhere in His word does it say that it is up to us to determine how to express our love.  His commandments spell it out for us.

Why do we call Jesus a Liar?

For according to Matthew 12:40 Jesus said:
For as Jonah was in the belly of the huge fish three days and three nights, so the Son of Man will be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights.
If we say that Jesus was buried around sunset on Good Friday and raised Sunday morning, we either believe he (or the gospel account) was mistaken or that he was a liar.

Jesus said 3 days & 3 nights.  Church tradition tells you 1 day and 2 nights.

What does it say about our "faith in Jesus" if we don't believe his promise?

This false tradition is also important to understand because it is used to justify one's disobedience to the Ten Commandments as is discussed here:

If Easter is really about the resurrection of Jesus then why isn't it observed 3 days after Passover?

Signs: Rainbows and Crosses

We all know the story of Noah.

The Almighty found the earth so corrupt that He set out to destroy nearly everyone.  Shortly afterwards He makes a covenant with Noah, his descendants, and all living creatures:
8 Then God said to Noah and his sons with him, 9 “Understand that I am confirming My covenant with you and your descendants after you, 10 and with every living creature that is with you—birds, livestock, and all wildlife of the earth that are with you—all the animals of the earth that came out of the ark. 11 I confirm My covenant with you that never again will every creature be wiped out by the waters of a flood; there will never again be a flood to destroy the earth.”  (Genesis 9)
Father promises that He will never again destroy all life with a flood.   The sign that He gives of His covenant promise is the rainbow.
12 And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between Me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all future generations: 13 I have placed My bow in the clouds, and it will be a sign of the covenant between Me and the earth. 14 Whenever I form clouds over the earth and the bow appears in the clouds, 15 I will remember My covenant between Me and you and all the living creatures: water will never again become a flood to destroy every creature.  (Genesis 9)
The rainbow is a visual reminder to Him:
16 The bow will be in the clouds, and I will look at it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all the living creatures on earth.” 17 God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant that I have confirmed between Me and every creature on earth.”  (Genesis 9)
Now let's fast forward several millennia to our generation:

Disgusting and sad, isn't it?  Is this coincidence or accident?  Unlikely!

I suspect this is being orchestrated by our Enemy in an attempt to mock the Almighty and His covenant promise.  This sign was to be a reminder to the Almighty that He promised never to destroy the earth as He did before.  I suspect that the Earth today is no less corrupt than in the time of Noah.

Let's now have a look at another covenant and how its sign has spared people from death.  If you haven't already, please take a moment to read about this covenant in my post about COVENANT LOYALTY: One Thousand Generations

In Deuteronomy 28, Father makes it clear that those adhering to His covenant will be blessed while those who don't will be cursed and even destroyed. Fast forward to the time spoken of in Ezekiel 9.  There we see that the sins against this covenant have become so great in Jerusalem that Father prescribes the merciless death of everyone, both young and old.  There is an exception:
4 “Pass throughout the city of Jerusalem,” the Lord said to him, “and put a mark on the foreheads of the men who sigh and groan over all the detestable practices committed in it.”5 He spoke as I listened to the others, “Pass through the city after him and start killing; do not show pity or spare them! 6 Slaughter the old men, the young men and women, as well as the older women and little children, but do not come near anyone who has the mark.
What I ask you to notice is that those who were saddened by the people's guilt were spared death by having a mark placed on their forehead.   The idea of having a forehead mark in regards to this covenant isn't new.   For example, Father gives the Ten Commandments for the second time in Deuteronomy 5.  He then instructs that His words should be on one's heart and bound symbolically on one's forehead.
4 “Listen, Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is One. 5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. 6 These words that I am giving you today are to be in your heart. 7 Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Bind them as a sign on your hand and let them be a symbol on your forehead.  (Deuteronomy 6)
Let's take a closer look at the mark that Father used to spare those written about in Ezekiel.  Here is Ezekiel 9:4 in an interlinear so that we can see what "mark" is translated from.  When we scroll down to "mark" and click on H8420 to see the Hebrew, we find that it is translated from the Hebrew "tav".

This is where we get to the 'crux' of the matter.  "Tav" is a letter of the ancient Hebrew alphabet as seen at this link..   Notice in its oldest form it is the shape of a cross:

In the diagrams and description at the shared link we see that this mark in its earliest form is identical to the Christian cross.

Today this symbol is regularly displayed in about every fashion you can imagine even going so far as to place it on one's forehead:
Here is an explanation of this practice:
What's Up with Dirty Christian Foreheads on Ash Wednesday?

So today we are placing the mark of the Tau Cross on our foreheads, on our necklaces, T-shirts, window decals, etc.  You name it and Christians will put this symbol on it.  But I beg you to remember that this symbol was used to save those who adhered to and loved a covenant that Christians have cast aside.

I'm aware that there is some debate as to the real shape of the tree that Jesus was killed on.  Either way, the end result is the same.  We have cast aside the Covenant it represents while claiming this cross is our salvation.  It did save those in the time of Ezekiel's writing only because Father had this placed on their foreheads Himself.

Do you think those of Ezekiel 9 that were killed without pity would have been spared by drawing a tav cross on their foreheads?  Of course not.  The requirement is that this covenant be adhered to and to be distressed when we see it ignored.

Could this be like the rainbow where the Enemy is causing us to unknowingly mock Father's covenant promise?   If we claim to have salvation through Jesus and the cross while all the time casting aside the very covenant it pertains to, are we really any different than a homosexual wearing a rainbow?

I'm confident that the gay rainbow is intended by the Enemy to serve as a mocking reminder of the Almighty's covenant promise to Noah (and us).  In the same way, I'm now very concerned that the Christian Cross is also intended by the Enemy to mock Father's covenant promises.

Many of you are no doubt shouting "What about the New Covenant?" while completely ignoring evidence I've given previously that a new covenant does not mean a new law.  Please bear with me as I hope to finish my first installment on the new covenant soon.   Also, be sure to understand that I am not speaking in any way negative of Jesus.  The fault is with those that use Jesus as a license for lawlessness.

If Easter is really about the resurrection of Jesus then why..........

...isn't it observed 3 days after Passover?

Jesus repeatedly promised that his resurrection would be 3 days after his death.  Here are eleven examples:  Matthew 12:40;16:21;17:23;20:19;27:63; Mark 8:31;10:34; Luke 9:22;18:33;24:7;24:46  (scroll down the page)

This was also pointed out by those after him:  Acts 10:40; 1 Cor 15:4.

There is no quote of Jesus saying anything about being raised on Sunday or the first day of the week.  His focus was always that he would be in the grave for 3 days!

We also know that he was sacrificed at Passover.  See these verses.

Jesus is also referred to as the Lamb and sometimes specifically as the Passover lamb:  See these verses.  (Scroll down)

We see that Jesus is the Passover Lamb, sacrificed on Passover and raised 3 days later.  That is what he wanted us to know.

We know that Passover falls on the 14th day of the first month according to the Creator's luni-solar calendar:
5 The Passover to the Lord comes in the first month, at twilight on the fourteenth day of the month.  (Leviticus 23)

So if Passover is the 14th day of the first month then why isn't the resurrection celebrated on the 17th day of the first month?  Good question!  Sometimes the Passover and Easter are weeks or even a month apart!

From the 3rd paragraph of the Easter entry at wikipedia we find:
The First Council of Nicaea (325) established two rules, independence of the Jewish calendar and worldwide uniformity, which were the only rules for Easter explicitly laid down by the council. No details for the computation were specified; these were worked out in practice, a process that took centuries and generated a number of controversies. It has come to be the first Sunday after the ecclesiastical full moon that occurs on or soonest after 21 March,[11] but calculations vary.
So the date for Easter is independent of the Jewish calendar despite the whole thing being about Passover WHICH IS ON THE JEWISH CALENDAR!

Why is this even important you ask?  Great question!  It's important because Christianity uses the whole Easter Sunday tradition to justify their sin of not practicing the TEN COMMANDMENTS, more specifically the Sabbath commandment:
Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy: 9 You are to labor six days and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. You must not do any work—you, your son or daughter, your male or female slave, your livestock, or the foreigner who is within your gates. 11 For the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and everything in them in six days; then He rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lordblessed the Sabbath day and declared it holy.  (Exodus 20)
The majority of Christianity ignores the seventh day sabbath in favor of going to church on Sunday (1st day of the Gregorian calendar week).  Yet, Jesus never said anything about this, but instead the sign he gave was 3 DAYS and he died at Passover!

Why are we celebrating Easter with bunny rabbits and colored eggs?  Both are signs of fertility and are derived from the worship of a fertility goddess named Easter who was worshiped in the Spring!  There are many videos that describe these connections:  Here are some YouTube videos about the pagan origins of Easter.

I beg you the reader to do an in depth study of where all the Easter traditions come from and to reconsider why you are ignoring the Ten Commandments.

The Discipline of Jesus: Vengeance of the Covenant

There is a lot of interesting content in Jesus's sermon as seen in Luke 12.  There are several topics worthy of discussion, but the one I'd like to share my thoughts on today is the relationship between a Master and his servants:
43 That slave whose master finds him working when he comes will be rewarded...
47 And that slave who knew his master’s will and didn’t prepare himself or do it will be severely beaten. 48 But the one who did not know and did things deserving of blows will be beaten lightly. Much will be required of everyone who has been given much. And even more will be expected of the one who has been entrusted with more.
Wow!  Did Jesus really say that a slave might be severely beaten?  Yes, he did.  For what reason?  Not doing his Master's will.  Notice that the ignorant slave was beaten only lightly while the one who knew better was beaten severely.  In some ways that makes it better to be ignorant, but the kicker is that once you become aware then ignorance is no longer an excuse.  The grace one had enjoyed is no longer available.  Of course, as per verse 43 the obedient slave is rewarded.

Jesus also speaks in a similar nature in Revelation 3:
19 As many as I love, I rebuke and discipline. So be committed and repent.
The disobedient that Jesus loves are disciplined.  He desires their repentance.

Jesus seems to be echoing what the Almighty promised during the exodus regarding His covenant.  He explains this in quite some detail in Leviticus 26.  While many teach that this covenant is irrelevant Father disagrees as I shared here: COVENANT LOYALTY:  One Thousand Generations.

As we read through the Almighty's promises in Leviticus 26, we see that He offers examples of good things that would happen to those who obey:
3 “If you follow My statutes and faithfully observe My commands, 4 I will give you rain at the right time, and the land will yield its produce, and the trees of the field will bear their fruit. 5 Your threshing will continue until grape harvest, and the grape harvest will continue until sowing time; you will have plenty of food to eat and live securely in your land.6 I will give peace to the land, and you will lie down with nothing to frighten you. I will remove dangerous animals from the land, and no sword will pass through your land.
Later He explains how bad things will befall those that disobey:
14 “But if you do not obey Me and observe all these commands— 15 if you reject My statutes and despise My ordinances, and do not observe all My commands—and break My covenant, 16 then I will do this to you: I will bring terror on you—wasting disease and fever that will cause your eyes to fail and your life to ebb away. You will sow your seed in vain because your enemies will eat it. 17 I will turn against you, so that you will be defeated by your enemies. Those who hate you will rule over you, and you will flee even though no one is pursuing you.
Seems pretty clear....Blessings to those who obey His will, discipline to those who don't obey Him.  Notice how this is essentially the same thing that Jesus promised.  Rewards to the obedient and discipline to the disobedient.

Remember how Jesus said the ignorant are disciplined lightly while those who know better are disciplined severely?  Well, hold on to your hat, here we go in the next verse of Leviticus:
18 “But if after these things you will not obey Me, I will proceed to discipline you seven times for your sins. 19 I will break down your strong pride.
So those that are disciplined initially that don't repent will now be disciplined much more severely!  Seven times as much!  It is to break down their strong pride.

Father offers examples of His discipline in the greater context of this chapter and then He says it again:
21 “If you act with hostility toward Me and are unwilling to obey Me, I will multiply your plagues seven times for your sins.
Again, we see his discipline will increase 7 times over!  Read in context to see the examples.

Then again He says:
23 “If in spite of these things you do not accept My discipline, but act with hostility toward Me, 24 then I will act with hostility toward you; I also will strike you seven times for your sins. 25 I will bring a sword against you to execute the vengeance of the covenant.
Again, if the discipline doesn't bring repentance then it is increased 7 fold.  Father refers to it as the VENGEANCE OF THE COVENANT.   Again, read the full chapter to see the examples.

But, He's not done.  Again He says:
27 “And if in spite of this you do not obey Me but act with hostility toward Me, 28 I will act with furious hostility toward you; I will also discipline you seven times for your sins. 29 You will eat the flesh of your sons; you will eat the flesh of your daughters.
Once again we see the warning that discipline will be increased 7 fold for those who don't repent.  This time I included His example.  The unrepentant will eat the flesh of their children!  I include this because most will find it repugnant and extreme.  Please don't think it is a bluff or an exaggeration for it has happened at least once:  2 Kings 6:24-31.

(For those that claim that keeping Father's Law is impossible, wouldn't this be an extreme punishment for failing to do the impossible?)

In summary, both Father and Jesus promise reward for obedience, discipline for disobedience, and severe discipline for willful disobedience.  Claiming that this covenant doesn't pertain to you will only bring about greater discipline.  My reason in sharing this is so that when you see bad things happen in the world or in your own life you will remember His covenant.  After all, who is Master of your life:  Lady Luck or those spoken of above?

COVENANT LOYALTY: One Thousand Generations

We all know the amazing biblical story of the Almighty saving the Hebrews from their Egyptian slavery.  Sources indicate that this occurred about 1200-1500 B.C., that is approximately 3500 years ago.

Most of us have also heard of the covenant that the Almighty made with exodus multitude at that time.  You will usually hear it referred to in Christianity as the "Old Covenant".   But is 3500 years really that old?  Let's have a look:
9 Know that Yahweh your God is God, the faithful God who keeps His gracious covenant loyalty for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commands(Deuteronomy 7)
Notice that Father promises to be loyal to this covenant for 1000 generations.  A biblical generation is usually considered to be somewhere between 20 - 70 years.  Doing simple math we see that Father will be loyal to this covenant for a minimum of 20,000 years.  It's only been 3500 years!  This covenant isn't anywhere near its expiration.   (This is also briefly discussed a previous post: Law vs. Covenant.)

If Father promises to be loyal to His covenant for at least 20,000 - 70,000 years yet we believe that He abandoned it 2000 years ago at only 1500 years of age, what does that say about our belief in His promise and/or the accuracy of the Bible?

Does Father break promises?  Is He a liar?  Or is the Bible at fault here?

I choose none of the above.  I believe it is man that is in error.

Please read the above passage in its context:  Deuteronomy 7:7-16.  Be sure to pay attention to verse 15 where the promise is made that the keepers of the covenant will have all sickness removed from them.

Other passages that speak of the thousand generation covenant loyalty: HERE.

I'm sure you want to ask about the New Covenant and all the words attributed to Paul that appear to disagree with what the Almighty promised above.   Please stay tuned as I'm working toward the topic of the New Covenant.  As for Paul, your questions should be answered HERE.

Now let's have a look at what Father said would happen in "the later days":

29 But from there, you will search for the Lord your God, and you will find Him when you seek Him with all your heart and all your soul. 30 When you are in distress and all these things have happened to you, you will return to the Lord your God in later days and obey Him. 31 He will not leave you, destroy you, or forget the covenant with your fathers that He swore to them by oath, because the Lord your God is a compassionate God.  (Deuteronomy 4)
Notice that in the later days the people will return to the Almighty and obey Him.  He will not forget the covenant.
“When all these things happen to you—the blessings and curses I have set before you—and you come to your senses while you are in all the nations where the Lord your God has driven you, 2 and you and your children return to the Lord your God and obey Him with all your heart and all your soul by doing everything I am giving you today, 3 then He will restore your fortunes, have compassion on you, and gather you again from all the peoples where the Lord your God has scattered you.4 Even if your exiles are at the ends of the earth, He will gather you and bring you back from there. 5 The Lord your God will bring you into the land your fathers possessed, and you will take possession of it. He will cause you to prosper and multiply you more than He did your fathers. 6 The Lord your God will circumcise your heart and the hearts of your descendants, and you will love Him with all your heart and all your soul so that you will live. 7 The Lord your God will put all these curses on your enemies who hate and persecute you. 8 Then you will again obey Him and follow all His commands I am giving you today.  (Deuteronomy 30)
We see the prophecy that when multiple generations return to the Almighty with all their heart and soul, obeying Him and following all of His commands given at that time, that He will regather them all to their land and circumcise their hearts.

This hasn't yet happened yet to any large degree.  There are many other promises of this last day return.  Hopefully that will be the subject of a later post.

As for now, my hope is that you will see that it is wrong to consider this covenant old or obsolete for to do so makes Father out to be a liar.
