Why do we call Jesus a Liar?

For according to Matthew 12:40 Jesus said:
For as Jonah was in the belly of the huge fish three days and three nights, so the Son of Man will be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights.
If we say that Jesus was buried around sunset on Good Friday and raised Sunday morning, we either believe he (or the gospel account) was mistaken or that he was a liar.

Jesus said 3 days & 3 nights.  Church tradition tells you 1 day and 2 nights.

What does it say about our "faith in Jesus" if we don't believe his promise?

This false tradition is also important to understand because it is used to justify one's disobedience to the Ten Commandments as is discussed here:

If Easter is really about the resurrection of Jesus then why isn't it observed 3 days after Passover?
